Let’s talk about the season we’re about to be in for a moment, SPRING!
March 20th, is the Spring Equinox or better known as Ostara/Eostre (Which is actually where the word and Holiday Easter actually comes from). The point of perfect Balance on the journey through the Wheel of the Year (The opposite end of this is the Fall Equinox in September). Night and day are of equal length and perfect equilibrium. Dark and light, masculine and feminine, inner and outer, in balance. This was a very major moment in the wheel of the year for our ancestors-an opportunity for them to mark the movement out of winter and into spring- the season of new life and a sign they can begin planting their fields and pray for an abundant harvest, come fall.
Last month was all about Imbolc, an ancient Gaelic holiday celebrating the very first stirrings of new life–the earliest breaths of spring. Now it’s time for the hopes of Imbolc to become action. The energy now is very expansive. Ostara was named after the Germanic Goddess Eostre/Ostara who was traditionally honored around April with festivals to celebrate fertility, renewal, death/resurrection and re-birth. The word Estrogen actually came from the name of Eostre, which is essential to women’s fertility. The symbols of Ostara are: bunnies, seeds, eggs, yellow and purple colors. Seem familiar? These traditions pre-date Christianity. It’s honoring the miracle of life beginning again after it was dead during the winter.
Also... Fun folklore fact: Ancient traditions of working with eggs include farmers keeping them in their pockets as they planted new seeds. The tradition of the egg hunt has roots in a playful game of hiding eggs all around the village. If you found one, it was good luck for an abundant year with a bountiful harvest.
So, After months of turning inward, of hibernation & of rest, life is beginning to stir again. Winter was all about turning inward, and now we’re starting to turn outward and turn towards the light. This time is all about clearing out the stagnant energy that may have been accumulated in winter and welcome in spring.
The transition from winter to spring can be SUPER intense. Think of the dead of winter, frozen, stillness, hibernation and rest to warming temperatures, waxing sun, shorter nights, fertility, giving birth, and new life. In the times of our ancestors this was seen as a time that was miraculous, that the winter didn’t last forever. It was a prayer to get through winter because the earth was our livelihood and we were so connected to the earth. We talk about these things to remember and to cultivate a sense of belonging in our selves, with each other and also on our planet.
To honor the season of Balance with the Moon being in Libra but also the Spring Equinox, which is the epitome of Balance-, we are all being called to do some deep work on balancing our bodies, our system and our lives. This month during our Full Moon Circle gatherings, we will be taking a deep dive in learning about the elements in the earth but also in our bodies and how if we balance all these elements we can be whole and live an aligned life. If you're interested in more about these teachings, head over to the WOMEN'S CIRCLE Tab up top to see when our next gathering is.
WHAT ARE YOU BEING CALLED INTO BALANCE?
WHAT AREAS OF YOUR LIFE ARE YOU HYPER-FOCUSED ON?
WHAT AREAS OF YOUR LIFE FEEL SUPER HARD AND OVERWHELMING RIGHT NOW?
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO LET GO OF IN ORDER TO STEP INTO TRUE ALIGNMENT?
We can do this.
